Konya and Kish Picnic on 14th June 2009

Families and friends of Kish Kindergarten and of Hope for Konya gathered on Sunday 14 June for a big picnic in support of our charity. In lovely sunshine the meadow at the Kindergarten was transformed by all the picnic blankets and baskets, people sharing food and having a good time.

The event was officially opened with a performance from K.I.S.H. children – singing their favourite songs (ranging from ABBA songs to African music.) Afterwards a professional jazz quartet, Angus Murray and friends (vocals/piano, sax, bass, percussion) entertained the crowd with a fabulous repertoire that got people to swing and dance.

There were games and activities for the kids like cricket and painting. On various stands beautiful Kenyan jewellery, Kikoi-beachwear and our colourful Hope for Konya T-Shirts were on sale. One of the highlights of the afternoon was the delicious cake buffet that was sponsored and organised by K.I.S.H. mothers.

Apart from being a fun-filled day the picnic also brought in a big donation for our charity: All proceeds through the sale and the entrance fee summed up to £2178!

Thanks to everybody who came to the picnic and joined in – in particular to the K.I.S.H. team, to all helpers and to Angus Murray and his musicians.
